It may only be August, but it’s never too early to start thinking about your new season wardrobe. Autumn is a funny time of year with the weather changing more than we change outfits, but luckily, everything you added to your summer wardrobe can transition you to the colder climate easily. Don’t believe us? See how your summer staples will be your autumn heroes.
You wake up and it’s cold, get to work and it’s hot. Annoying, right? Enter the Ottoman jacket, lightweight, versatile and the perfect addition to pretty dresses or jeans. Available in beige and sage green, we advise stocking up and using as a base for your transitional layering. Also looks super cute worn buttoned up as shirt, so who’s the real winner here?
THE dress of the season. Honestly. These fab dresses will take you from late summer all the way through to winter. Great with sandals and killer with a boot (over the knee is preferable), the smock dress isn’t going anywhere for a few months, so invest in one. Or two, whatever you want.
Cardigans began making waves last season, preferably worn as tops, and they’re still big news in AW19. Throw over t-shirts and dresses to spruce up and outfit (plus keep you warm when the temperature drops). Whether it’s cropped or longline, pull on a cardi asap.
Utility never really goes away, so an investment in cargo trousers is always justifiable. Perfect for that off duty look with a tee and jacket, and even better when Autumn hits when paired with a jumper and trainers.
Not just restricted for afternoons filled with picnics, tea dresses have gained a few inches in length to carry on through the season. Maxi versions still look on point with some sandals for now, whilst mini dresses just need tights (or knee high boots) to keep working overtime.
Camis and slip dresses rejoice, you’re needed for another season. Weather proof your dresses with jumpers and boots and throw camis over a roll neck for day and wear under a leather jacket for night. Extra style points for anything with a lace trim.
Name a more versatile shoe, we’ll wait. No seriously, boots are your all year round saviour so purchase wisely. Invest in some western boots now and thank yourself later. Best accompanied with denim and dresses (the smock kind, if we’re choosing). If cowboy vibes aren’t your thing, snap up a pair of Chelsea boots.
If florals for spring is ground-breaking, florals in the autumn are a game changer. Not just reserved for the girly girl, flower arrangements of all kinds are encouraged. Dark moody florals sit well with summer sunshine now, effortlessly transitioning into AW. There’s a bouquet to suit everyone…
SS19 has been dominated by hair accessories and AW19 shows no signs of letting up. Some new rules apply though: headbands must be padded or pearl, hair slides are more adventurous than ever and scrunchies are the only way to tie your hair up. Follow this simple guide and banish bad hair until 2020.
